The Sestiere of Santa Croce is one of the main districts of Venice,  it is the gateway to the city. There is the main port of San Basilio, Piazzale Roma, the last point of arrival by car, and the Santa Lucia railway station connected to Piazzale Roma by the famous Santiago Calatrava bridge.
 
As soon as you leave the train station and Piazzale Roma areas, which are always crowded, you can visit beautiful gardens,  museums and discover Venetian cuisine in old Hosterie and Bacari.

San Giacomo dall'Orio
Campo di San Giacomo dall'Orio, with its church, is a place to stop for a stroll in Santa Croce and find some good restaurants and taverns.
 
Tolentini
As soon as you leave Piazzale Roma, you are in the university area of ​​the Tolentini, which houses the University of Venice Architecture Institute (IUAV), a former convent of the church that is adjacent to San Nicolò da Tolentino. Be sure to stop for a snack at the famous Bacareto da Lele!
 
Museum of Natural History and Fondaco dei Turchi
The Natural History Museum is located in an elegant and sophisticated building erected in the first half of the 13th century: the Fondaco dei Turchi.  Initially patrician house was later sold to the Venetian Republic in 1381.  In 1621 the Serenissima assigned it to the Turkish merchants. Since 1923 it has housed the Natural History Museum, the small size allows a visit that does not require long lead times.
