The Hotel Rio overlooks Campo San Filippo and Giacomo less than a hundred metres from the famous Saint Mark’s Square and very near the San Zaccaria vaporetto stop. For short periods, the hotel was also the home of the musician Antonio Vivaldi.
The Hotel Rio has 36 rooms, the majority of which have a TV, telephone, air conditioning, safe, mini-bar and hairdryer.
The buffet breakfast is served in a room in the Bar Europa Vini & Caffè, which overlooks the same square. The Europa is ideal for a quiet break or a quick breakfast, brioches, rolls, a cappuccino or an aperitif. Tastings of top wines are occasionally organized here and they are attended by local gourmets.
To reach Hotel Rio: Hotel Rio can be easily reached from both the Santa Lucia train station and Piazzale Roma on the vaporetto line 1 or 2. Taking line 1, you can reach the hotel in about 50 minutes and you can enjoy the amazing view of the many palaces that overlook the Grand Canal; get off at the San Zaccaria stop and go along the Calle delle Rasse (opposite the stop) as far as Campo SS. Filippo and Giacomo. For people that prefer arriving in Venice by plane, the Alilaguna motorboat connects Marco Polo airport to Saint Mark’s Square.
